Biography and Education

David Rubenstein served 35 years in the US Army Medical Department, ending his career as a Major General. In addition to serving as the Army’s Deputy Surgeon General and 16th Chief of the Medical Service Corps, he spent 12 of his 35 years in command. He was the Commanding General of the Army Medical Department Center and School and Commanding General of the Army’s Europe Regional Medical Command. He also commanded the 30th Medical Brigade, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, 21st Combat Support Hospital, Task Force Med Eagle while deployed to Bosnia & Herzegovina, 18th Surgical Hospital (MASH), and Headquarters Company, 307th Medical Battalion (Airborne), 82nd Airborne Division.

David is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the Army War College. He earned a Master's Degree in Health Administration from Baylor University.

General Rubenstein has been inducted as an Outstanding Alumnus of Texas A&M University’s College of Education and Human Development and into Baylor University’s Alumni Association Hall of Fame. He is listed in six Who's Who publications, was included twice in Modern Healthcare's list of the 100 most influential people in Healthcare, and received the 2013 Baylor University Board of Regent’s Medal of Service for Healthcare.

His professional credentials include being a board certified healthcare executive who is a past Chairman of the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives. In 2012 Major General Rubenstein received ACHE’s Gold Medal, its highest award for service to the profession.

In addition to energizing emerging and established healthcare leaders with his presentations and seminars, David has authored peer-reviewed professional articles and intends, after a family genealogy project is done, to finish two books on military medical history. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Health Administration at Texas State University.
