Biography and expertise
Holly Wise was a 2018-2019 Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence scholar in Bangalore, India, where she taught solutions journalism at Mount Carmel College.
In the U.S., she is a journalism lecturer at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. In 2015 she launched the Texas State Global News Team, which embeds mass communication students with international service learning study abroad programs.
Wise is the former director of journalism school engagement at the Solutions Journalism Network where she consulted with university professors and lecturers interested in teaching solutions journalism.
She is the founder of VoiceBox Media, a news production company that recruits university students to produce rigorous coverage of social problems and how communities solve them.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s degree in mass communication from Murray State University.
When she is not in India, she lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, daughter and two German shepherds.
