Biography and Education
Gina McDaniel Tarver, Professor of Art History at Texas State University, researches modern and contemporary art, art institutions, and visual culture in Latin America, specifically in Colombia. She received her Ph.D. at The University of Texas at Austin and was a Fulbright grant recipient. Her essays on Colombian art have appeared in books and journals in Colombia, Great Britain, France, and the United States. Her book, The New Iconoclasts: From Art of a New Reality to Conceptual Art in Colombia, 1961–1975 (Ediciones Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, 2016) is the first book in English about Colombian art of the 1960s and 1970s. She also co-edited a volume on art museums in Latin America, which is the first book in English on the topic.Research Interests
